How do I drop a pin?
Long-press anywhere on the map to drop a pin at that exact location. You'll feel a haptic tap confirming the pin was placed, and a dialog will ask you to name it. Type a name and tap Save, or tap Cancel to remove the pin.
How do I use the Control Center / Lock Screen button?
Add the Drop A Pin button to your Control Center or Lock Screen. When you press it, the app opens, saves your current GPS location as a pin, and asks you to name it by voice. Just speak the name — it auto-saves after a brief pause. You can also type a name instead.
How do I add the button to my Lock Screen?
Long-press your lock screen and tap Customize. Tap the widget area, then tap Add Controls and search for "Drop A Pin". For more details, see Apple's guide to customizing your Lock Screen.
Why isn't my location appearing?
Drop A Pin needs Location access to tag pins. Go to Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services → Drop A Pin and select While Using the App. Make sure Location Services is enabled at the top of that screen too.
Why isn't voice naming working?
Voice naming requires microphone and speech recognition permissions. Go to Settings → Privacy & Security → Microphone and make sure Drop A Pin is toggled on. Also check Settings → Privacy & Security → Speech Recognition.
How do I add a note to a pin?
Tap any pin on the map or in the All Pins list to open its details. Tap Add a Note to write a note. Notes are shown as a preview in the details sheet — tap to expand, or tap Edit Note to change it.
How do I sort my pins by distance?
In the All Pins list, tap the filter icon in the top-right corner and choose Nearest. Drop A Pin will reorder the list from closest to farthest relative to your current location, with the distance shown on each row.
How do I share a pin's location?
Tap any pin to open its details, then tap Share. This sends an Apple Maps link to the pin's coordinates via Messages, AirDrop, or any other sharing method. You can also long-press a pin in the All Pins list for a quick share option.
Are my pins backed up to iCloud?
No. Drop A Pin stores all data locally on your device only. Nothing is sent to iCloud or any other server. To keep your pins safe, make sure your iPhone is included in your iCloud or iTunes backup.
How do I delete a pin?
You can delete a pin two ways: swipe left on it in the All Pins list, or tap the pin to open its details and tap Delete Pin. You'll be asked to confirm before the pin is permanently removed.
