Privacy Policy
Drop A Pin ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how Drop A Pin handles information when you use our iOS application.
The Short Version
Drop A Pin does not collect, store, or transmit any personal data to external servers. Every pin you drop and every note you write stays on your device, under your complete control.
Information We Do Not Collect
Drop A Pin does not collect, transmit, or share:
- GPS coordinates or location history
- Voice recordings or speech-to-text data
- Device identifiers or usage analytics
- Personal information of any kind
There are no user accounts, no sign-in, and no cloud sync. We have no servers that receive data from your device.
Data Stored on Your Device
Drop A Pin stores the following data locally on your iPhone only:
- Pin data — name, notes, GPS coordinates, and date, stored in a local SwiftData database
This data is never read by us and never leaves your device unless you explicitly share a pin location yourself.
Location Access
Drop A Pin requests access to your location ("While Using the App") to:
- Tag each dropped pin with the GPS coordinates of your current position
- Show your current position on the in-app map
- Sort pins by distance from your current location
Your location is never tracked in the background, never stored on external servers, and never used for advertising or analytics.
Microphone & Speech Recognition
Drop A Pin requests access to your microphone and speech recognition to enable voice naming of pins when using the Control Center button. The microphone is only active during the brief naming prompt. Voice data is processed on-device using Apple's Speech framework and is never sent to any external server.
Third-Party Services
Drop A Pin does not integrate any third-party analytics, advertising, tracking, or data collection SDKs. The only external APIs used are Apple's own system frameworks (MapKit, CoreLocation, AVFoundation, Speech), which are governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.
Children's Privacy
Drop A Pin does not knowingly collect any information from children under the age of 13. Because we collect no personal data at all, the app is safe for all ages.
Data Deletion
You are in full control of your data. To delete a pin, swipe left on any item in the All Pins list or tap Delete in the Pin Details sheet. To remove all data, simply delete the Drop A Pin app from your device — all pins and notes are permanently erased.
Changes to This Policy
If we make material changes to this Privacy Policy, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
